The filming guide
A reaction lives or dies on the moment you react, the text on screen, and
whether it feels real.
Shooting a reaction
- Pick a clip or a sounds bank sound. Check its react-on cue,
the named moment for the big reaction.
- One earphone in, one out.
- Phone propped at eye level. Front camera, face filling the frame.
- Record from a few seconds before you press play to two seconds after the clip ends.
- React with your face: eyebrows, mouth, the slow turn to camera. Small and real.
- 15 to 30 seconds total.
Using a bank sound? Attach the sound to the post rather than baking the audio in.
Shared sounds pool views.
On-screen text: the rules that matter most
- Type it inside TikTok's editor. Never CapCut, never baked in. Pre-rendered text reads
as an ad and the video dies.
- On screen from 0:00, all lowercase, one emoji at the end: 💀 or 😭.
- Never name the app on screen or out loud. Caption and bio only.
- Don't explain the joke. The text sets up your reaction; the audio is the reveal.
Hooks that have worked
- "am i going to hell for listening to the bible like this 💀"
- "surely this is blasphemy?? 💀"
- "wdym there's a girl who read the whole bible like its tea and put it on an app 😭"
- "pov: a girl in the smoking area is explaining the entire bible to you"
- "just found out what my flatmate's been listening to 💀"
Hooks are first-come; check your portal before filming.
